Harry Cooper is a native of South Carolina and serves as the Evening Program Coordinator for the Division of Business, Mathematics and Sciences at Columbia College. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor teaching Business Ethics, Business Law and Federal Income Tax Accounting.
Harry also serves as the Executive Director for the South Carolina Department of Revenue. He was formerly General Council and Deputy Director for the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Harry was also an Assistant Attorney General with the tax division of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Harry received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. After graduation, he worked eight years with the Internal Revenue Service.
He has served as Chair of both the Tax Litigation and Criminal Enforcement Sections of the Federation of Tax Administrators. He currently serves on the Executive Committee and Chairs the Income Section of the Southeastern Association of Tax Administrators. In addition, Harry currently serves on the Taxation of Financial Institutions Committee of the National Tax Association. He has served as Chair of the Internet Gaming Committee for the North American Gaming Regulatory Association. Harry has been named in the Who’s Who in Attorneys, Who’s Who in Federal State and Local Government and Who’s Who in Law Enforcement Leaders. Harry has also served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the South Carolina Governor’s Quality Award.
