Columbia College awarded $90K grant to develop math instructional program
Columbia College has been awarded a $90,000 grant for the South Carolina High Energy Mathematics Circle, a new program coordinated by Dr. Nieves McNulty, professor of mathematics and computer and information science.
The program is designed to train K-12 teachers with instruction techniques that make math easier to understand and fun for students.
Funding will come from the S.C. Commission of Higher Education's Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Grant Program, which seeks to bring together higher education faculty and P-12 school personnel to foster mutually beneficial partnerships based on sustained professional development. The ultimate goal of the partnership is improved student performance.
