Cottingham Theater provides an excellent venue for theater, music, and dance performances. The facility includes a 375-seat auditorium, an arena theater, a gallery and reception area, dressing rooms, a costume room, offices, and classrooms.
Named for Cora Stackhouse Cottingham, 1895, alumna, friend and benefactor, who provided funds for the building. Building completed in 1960.
Mrs. Cottingham was the daughter of the late William Bethea and
Josephine Bethea Stackhouse of Little Rock. She was a graduate of the class of
1895 of Columbia College. She spent most of her life in Cullman, Alabama, but upon the death of her husband, Dr. W. J. Cottingham, she returned to Latta. Although in declining health in later life, she remained interested in religious educational and social activities. She was generous with her support to Epworth Children's Home in Columbia and the Home for the Aged in Orangeburg. One of her gifts to the Children's Home was an entrance gate and a brick fence around the grounds. "Miss Cora" gave an annual award to the winning boy and girl in Latta High School Declamation Contest.
