Due to the potential for severe weather in our area today, Columbia College will move to eLearning for all classes.
Students should check their Canvas courses for specific instructions from their professors regarding assignments, virtual meetings, or other course expectations.
Faculty and staff are expected to report to work as normal. If alternate arrangements need to be made for remote work due to safety concerns or family needs, please contact your supervisor directly.
We strongly encourage all members of the campus community to download and enable notifications for the RAVE Alert system. This is one of the primary ways the College will share urgent safety updates.
If you receive a severe weather or tornado warning while on campus or in any building, move immediately to a safe location. The safest place is the lowest level of the building, in a central interior room or hallway, away from glass windows and exterior doors. Avoid large open spaces such as gymnasiums, auditoriums, or areas with wide roof spans. If possible, protect yourself by getting under a sturdy table or desk and covering your head and neck.
If you are outdoors or in a vehicle, seek shelter in a sturdy building right away. Do not try to outrun a tornado in a car. If no shelter is available, lie flat in a low area and cover your head.
Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including weather apps, local media, and emergency alerts. Conditions can change quickly, and staying informed is critical.
The College will continue to monitor weather conditions and will share updates if additional adjustments become necessary.
Please stay safe and weather aware.
