We are so excited for you to begin your journey as a Columbia College student. You are part of the CC family now, and we will be here every step of the way to assist in your transition at Columbia College. To ensure that you make a smooth transition and officially start your journey as a student, you'll want to attend Orientation Programs this Summer and Fall.

Step 1: Register for Summer Orientation

Summer Orientation is a 1-day program for new students and their families to be welcomed into the Columbia College community and become familiar with campus and finalize preparations for the Fall semester. During Summer Orientation, you'll meet faculty and staff, connect with other new students, and learn about different resources on campus. You'll also meet your Orientation Leader(OL) - upper-class students who help you adjust to college life!

REMINDERS for New Students
Complete this short checklist before attending Summer Orientation and Welcome Week!
  • Download the Navigate App 
    • Make sure to take the brief survey after logging in with your Columbia College email credentials so that you can ensure you have access to your Orientation Checklist.
  • Download the Canvas App
    • This is Columbia College's Learning Management System which means, this is where you access your courses, submit assignments, and collaborate with peers.
  • Access your Columbia College Email
    • This is the primary way that the Columbia College community will communicate with you. As a student, you must check your Columbia College email frequently, so you do not miss important information.
Information for Parents & Families

There will be a Family Orientation program that will run concurrently during our 1-day Summer Orientation sessions. We encourage family members to attend Summer Orientation to learn more about Columbia College, life on campus, and how to support their student during their transition to Columbia College.

Students have the option to register family members when completing their registration for Summer Orientation. Family members and students will arrive together and branch off to their respective Orientations for the day.

    Step 2: Join Us for Virtual Events

    We also provide you with virtual Summer Orientation sessions throughout the summer to ensure you're ready for success this Fall.

    Families

    2022 Virtual Orientation Session Dates:

    • Wednesday, June 1st @ 12:00 pm
    • Wednesday, June 29th @ 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm
    • Wednesday, July 6th @ 6:00 pm
    • Tuesday, July 12th @ 12:00 pm
    • Wednesday, August 10th @ 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm

    Step 3: Attend Welcome Weekend

    Welcome Weekend is a 4-day event for new incoming students. During this weekend residential students will move-in and commuter and evening college students will check-in and get prepared for upcoming events. There will be various activities and sessions that students will be able to participate in that will ensure that they are prepared and ready for the semester ahead! 

    Residential Students

    New residential students are to check-in on Thursday, August 18th. Check-in will be located in Edens Library from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. All students must report to Edens Library before they are able to move into their assigned residence hall. Students will move-in based on the assigned time associated with their last name. 

    • A-B         9:00 am to 9:30 am
    • C-E         9:35 am to 10:05 am
    • F-H        10:10 am to 10:40 am 
    • I-M         10:50 am to 11:20 am
    • N-SM     11:25 am to 11:55 am
    • SN - Z    12:00 pm to 12:30 pm

    Please make sure that you complete the Fall 2022 Move In & Emergency Contact Form  before your assigned check-in time.

    Commuter Students

    New commuter students will check-in on Thursday, August 18th. Check-In be located in Edens Library from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please plan to attend the Meet & Greet session at 6:30 pm in the Terrace Cafe!

    Evening College Students Orientation

    Columbia College hosts a virtual orientation session for Evening College students on Thursday, August 18th  from 6:30 pm – 7:30pm.
