Logan Simpson comes to Columbia College from Carolina Aquatics Swim Club, where he served as Head Coach since 2018. During his time as Head Coach, Carolina Aquatics moved from 11th at the South Carolina State Championship meet to 5th in the state. CA also finished 15th at Senior Sectionals under his leadership. Over the course of his tenure, Carolina Aquatics boasted numerous state championship performances, Senior and Age Group Sectionals finalists, a Junior Nationals qualifier, and three seniors who signed Division I scholarships.

Logan swam at Gardner-Webb University following an all-state high school career, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English.

Logan brings a great deal of familiarity with Columbia swimming. Prior to being promoted to CA’s Head Coach, Logan served as Head Age Group Coach at Carolina Aquatics and Associate Head Coach at Palmetto Aquatics, consistently demonstrating success at the State and Sectional levels, while earning a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.

While working as CA’s Head Age Group Coach, Logan also served as Volunteer Assistant Swim Coach for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. There he was given the opportunity to learn from world-class coaches and work with elite athletes at the SEC, NCAA, and Olympic levels. The experience encompassed preseason dryland training, staff meetings, assisting swim practices, leading practices for non-travel swimmers, and coaching on deck at home meets.

Before coming to Columbia, Logan worked at Gardner-Webb University as Assistant Director of athletics fundraising, where he worked to develop a sport-specific fundraising initiative that yielded a $25,000 fundraising increase for teams across campus.

Prior to that, Logan worked as an Assistant Swim Coach at Wabash College, a single-sex college in Crawfordsville, Indiana. During his stint at Wabash, Logan spent time as Interim Head Coach and led the team in its season-opening meet against Denison, the 2nd ranked team in the nation. That year, Wabash achieved a winning dual meet record and finished in the top 25 in the nation in the NCAA Division III.

Logan began his career in coaching as a Senior at Gardner-Webb University, when he worked on the Women’s Basketball coaching staff as Director of Basketball Operations/Assistant Coach.

Swimming, college athletics, and the coaching profession run deeply in Logan’s family, as his father Mike is an Assistant Swim Coach at the University of South Carolina.

Logan and his wife Hannah live in Irmo, just down the street from his parents, and are incredibly excited to be a part of the Koala family!
