Biography
Shaienna Quinn, MACJ, MSW, LMSW, LCSWA is an adjunct professor specializing in criminal justice and social work. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with minors in Juvenile Justice and Legal Studies, from Grand Valley State University in 2017. She went on to complete a Master of Social Work with a clinical concentration at Baylor University in 2022, followed by a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University in 2023. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Social Work with a concentration in Administrative Leadership at the University of Kentucky, with a focus on advancing systems of care for youth and young adults.
Professor Quinn’s teaching interests bridge the disciplines of criminal justice and social work, with particular attention to how these fields intersect to improve outcomes for justice-involved youth. Her research centers on connecting juvenile justice with social work interventions to better serve young people ages 14–24, a population she is deeply committed to supporting.
In addition to her academic work, Professor Quinn brings extensive professional experience to the classroom. She has worked in a psychiatric residential treatment facility, sexual assault center, re-entry program, intensive outpatient program for substance use, foster care and adoption agency, outpatient therapy setting, and in school social work. These experiences provide her students with real-world insights into the challenges and opportunities of practice in the field.
A Michigan native, Professor Quinn enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her child. She believes college is not only about learning but also about building lifelong connections that foster success.
