Biography
Dr. Spenser Seifert is an Assistant Professor in the Business, Leadership, and Communications Division at Columbia College and primarily teaches accounting and finance courses. Dr. Seifert earned his BSBA in accounting and MACC in taxation from the University of South Carolina before working as a tax accountant in Asheville, NC, with DHG (now FORVIS). At DHG, Dr. Seifert specialized in the taxation of mid-sized, family-owned corporations and partnerships. He later returned to the University of South Carolina to pursue a Ph.D. in accounting, which he completed in 2024. Following graduation, he completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Bern in Switzerland before joining Columbia College in 2025. Dr. Seifert is a licensed CPA (NC).
Dr. Seifert's research uses surveys and experiments to explore accounting environments and has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics and Contemporary Accounting Research.
Outside of work, Spenser volunteers with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and enjoys playing volleyball, cooking, traveling, and listening to audiobooks.
