Travis Dalton is originally from Asheville, North Carolina. He moved to South Carolina in 2008. Travis joined the college in 2014 and serves as a Lecturer of Business and Computer Science at Columbia College. He serves as the Program Chair for the Computer and Information Science Department and the Computing Minor Advisor. Travis received his MIS from The University of North Carolina in Greensboro and MBA from Western Carolina University. He also holds B.S. degrees in Business Law and Marketing.
Before joining Columbia College, Travis was a high school teacher where he earned National Board Certification and Teacher of the Year. He also served as the FBLA Advisor and Department Chair. He taught both business and computing courses at the Union Career and Technology Center. Travis also taught as an adjunct professor at The University of South Carolina in Union and Spartanburg Community College. He has provided professional development for the South Carolina Department of Education for several years before working with Code.org as a facilitator of CS Discoveries and CS Principles curriculum.
Prior to teaching, Travis was a consultant for Timken working with the Information Technology department and Gestamp implementing a new ERP system and as a store manager at Sherwin Williams. Travis also served in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst in the 504th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Hood, TX.
