Biography

A native of Marlboro County, South Carolina, Whitney was a 2002 graduate of Marlboro Academy. She was chosen as a South Carolina Teaching Fellow through Columbia College, where she attended and majored in Early Childhood Education. Whitney graduated from Columbia College in 2006 and began her career as a Kindergarten teacher here in the midlands. Placing a priority on family, Whitney returned home to Marlboro County as a first grade teacher at Wallace Elementary Middle from 2007-2011. While back home, she received a Masters of Education in Instructional Accommodations from Francis Marion in 2009. In July of 2012, Whitney married her husband Travis and returned to the midlands and to continue her time in the classroom as a first grade teacher. She completed her degree in Educational Curriculum and Leadership from Winthrop University in December of 2013. Currently Whitney resides in Columbia with her husband, Travis, and son, Townes.
