Keith as the new Chair for the College’s Board of Trustees. Keith is the President of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. He takes over for Toby W. Goodlett, who served as chair for two years, while he served as Vice Chair.

“Tom has an excellent grasp of issues affecting higher education in general and Columbia College in particular,” Dr. Peter Mitchell, Columbia College Interim President said. “We are looking forward to Tom’s leadership, building upon the great opportunities that lie ahead for the College and our students”, Mitchell said.

The Board has also elected Kimberly Wellman, Vice President of Communications Strategies at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, as Vice Chair of the Board. Wellman has worked with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina for over 20 years and has served on the Columbia College Board for three years. 

Furthering the Board and its executive leadership team, John Marshall Mosser has been appointed the new Board Secretary. Mosser, a business attorney from the Upstate, has served on the Board since 2018.

In addition to the new Board Chair and Vice Chair, Columbia College welcomes new Board member, Martha Brown, a 1988 graduate of Columbia College. Brown is President and CEO of Tipperary Sales Inc./dba La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings and Décor, and is known for her demonstrated history of building teams with award-winning results. Over the years Brown has been involved in Alumnae Relations at the College and regularly speaks to students and adults on the merits of higher education.

Columbia College has deep roots and a storied history in our community and in our state. It is an honor to serve in this role as the College begins its next chapter of educating students in exciting and creative ways.

As the College’s governing body, the Board of Trustees is responsible for the school's educational mission and fiscal policies. The Columbia College Board of Trustees members serve a term of four years and are eligible to serve as many as three consecutive terms.
