Columbia, SC- Columbia College (SC) announced the addition of a men’s swimming and men’s tennis programs. The additions will bring the total number of sports to 14.
Competition for both programs will begin in the 2022-23 academic year and both sports will compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), the current conference of Koala Athletics.
“The addition of the new sports will help increase the presence of men within the Department of Athletics and the College as a whole,” said Director of Athletics Debbie Wardlaw.
Columbia College (SC) began fielding men’s sports in the Fall of 2021, with men’s cross-country, men’s soccer, men’s golf, and men’s track and field.
The Koala's current women’s swimming coach, Logan Simpson, will serve in the same capacity on the men’s side. Mark Carnes will serve as the men’s tennis team. Carnes, who was hired in December, will also serve as the head coach of the women’s tennis team.
