champions of character graphicColumbia, SC – The Columbia College (SC) Athletic Department was recognized as an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Gold Award winner for the fourth consecutive year. This is the 12th straight year the Koalas have achieved the Five-Star award. In total, 157 NAIA institutions earned the Champions of Character ® Five-Star Institution Award.

To achieve a gold award an institution must score 90 or above on the Champions of Character Scorecard for that academic year. The Champions of Character Scorecard categories include character training, academic focus, character recognition, character promotion, and conduct in competition.

Columbia College was one of 28 institutions to achieve a perfect score of 100 on the Champions of Character scorecard and one of five from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) schools to achieve a perfect score. In addition to Columbia College (SC), Milligan, Bryan, Johnson (Tenn.), Montreat, and Union achieved perfect scores from the AAC.
