Columbia College student Andrea Choice, a Biochemistry major from Moncks Corner, SC, has been selected to receive a Council for Independent College (CIC)/UPS Scholarship provided by South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, Inc. and its national partner, the CIC in Washington, D.C.

"I congratulate Andrea on this well-deserved award. It is always exciting to see our students recognized for their hard work. We are a community of scholars and are grateful for CIC and UPS for their efforts to award outstanding students across the country,” said Dr. Tom Bogart, Columbia College President. “Scholarships and opportunities like these make a lasting impact on students, preparing them to make a positive difference in the world."

Nationally, CIC, through the CIC/UPS Educational Endowment, provided more than $1.5 million in student scholarships to support student success at private colleges and universities. This year, the SC Independent Colleges & Universities (SCICU) awarded $60,000 in CIC/UPS Scholarships to 20 low-income, first-generation, minority, and new American students at private institutions across South Carolina.

“The UPS Foundation has been a long-time and generous supporter of independent college higher education, not only in South Carolina but nationwide,” said Jeff Perez, President & CEO of SCICU. “We are very appreciative of their support and recognize that the lives of many worthy students have been changed for the better.”
