Our seniors complete internships where they apply what they've learned in the classroom out in the real world. Our students have received internships (followed by job offers) with national players like Intuit in Silicon Valley as well as local technology leaders like SCANA and TCube in Columbia, SC.
The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $84,580 in May 2017, more than double the median average for all professions, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Job satisfaction, job opportunities, and compensation in these professions are consistently rated highly.
Career Preparation
I owe everything I am today in my career to the CIS program at Columbia College and Dr. Schep. During my first year, I collaborated with Dr. Schep to do research on the effectiveness of an animation tool, ALICE, in a special needs classroom. This research opened the door to a local and a national conference, where I won awards and also bagged an internship in Silicon Valley.
Dean
Dr. Schep enjoys teaching programming in Python or Java, web development (back-end and front-end), algorithms, and software development. She's also received national grants for her work on recruiting female students.

Travis teaches system analysis, information systems, and business courses. He has experience in the private sector and teaching at colleges, high schools, and at Code.org, a non-profit that works to expand computer science learning.
