The Columbia College Concert Choir, led by Choir Director and Lecturer Aletha Jacobs, performed as part of the Silent Witness Ceremony on the State House steps on October 1, 2024. The ceremony served to honor the memories of the many victims of fatal domestic abuse in the past year while also providing hope for survivors. Attorney General Alan Wilson led the ceremony, calling the names of 29 women and seven men whose lives were lost. Family and friends of victims, alongside supportive community members, gathered as a symbol of their commitment to break the cycle of abuse that is all too real to our state, nation, and world today. We are incredibly proud of our students and faculty who make concerted efforts to participate in community events like these that lift up fellow community members and support worthy causes in Columbia and beyond.
