Columbia College continues to closely monitor projections for the inclement weather expected Tuesday (1/9). Current projections indicate a high likelihood of strong winds and heavy rain with potential for tornadic activity and dangerous driving conditions.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our highest priority, so all offices of the College will operate remotely on Tuesday, January 9. All classes scheduled to meet in person on Tuesday will transition to remote learning. Students should check email and the Canvas course site for guidance from professors. All Monday evening (1/8) classes are to meet as scheduled. The Student Union Dining Hall will remain open for service to our residential students. J. Drake Edens Library will be closed on Tuesday (1/9) but will reopen for regular operating hours on Wednesday (1/10). Essential workers, including those part of the Office of Residence Life and Housing, Columbia College Police Department, Student Union Dining Hall, and Facilities, will report for normal operating hours. All classes, campus activities, and offices are currently scheduled to resume normal operation on Wednesday, January 10.

Campus community members are encouraged to use due regard for their own safety, monitor updates from the RAVE Alert system, and call the CCPD Hotline at 803.786.3500 to address any additional questions or concerns. We encourage our Columbia College Community to stay safe, continuing to monitor the safety of roadways as the weather progresses.
