Megan "Leighann" Newberry

Head Coach | Softball

Biography

Leighann Newberry enters her first season at Columbia College as Head Women’s Softball Coach. Leighann is from Lizella, Ga. She played collegiate softball for Gordon College and Brewton-Parker College. While playing, she received All Academic each of her four years. She also received NAIA Student Athlete of the year in 2011 and was a finalist in the SSAC Golden Glove Award in 2012. She graduated from Brewton Parker College in 2012 Magna Cum Laude with her B.A. in Sports and Fitness and a Minor in Coaching. Leighann has spent the last nine years coaching High School Softball in the GISA. She began her career at Robert Toombs Christian Academy where she spent three years teaching high school math and coaching softball, basketball, tennis, and track. The last six years, she has been the Athletic Director,  high school math and science teacher and coached softball, basketball, and track at Windsor Academy. During her time at Windsor Academy, she has won three State Championships and has received GISA AA Coach of the year three times as well.

What I love most about working at Columbia College is how kind and helpful everyone is. I was welcomed with open arms by students, staff, faculty, and administration. I have felt apart of the CC Family since I stepped on campus!
