Rev. Fadetra Boyd

Chaplain & Director of Spiritual Life

Biography

Rev. Fadetra Boyd completed her bachelors of arts in Sociology with a minor in Elementary Education at USC Columbia in 1999. She received her Masters of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary at The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA 2008. She was ordained an Elder in the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2013 and has been serving in churches across South Carolina since 2010. Prior to becoming a pastor, Rev. Boyd taught 5th grade and worked as Director of Education-Lead Teacher at Camp Sandhills with Department of Juvenile Justice's male students age 14-18 in the Associated Marine Institute program for more than five years.

From this experience, Rev. Boyd strongly desired to help families and communities strengthen their relationship with God and each other by establishing and enhancing ministries in the community that build up individuals and families. She shares her life in Christian witness while seeking authentic relationship with all regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, gender, or faith backgrounds. Her faith teaches her that ALL have been freely given God's gift of grace and love. However, we must be willing find ways to live out that grace in love and peace with all.

In her spare time, Rev. Boyd enjoys singing, cooking and spending as much time as possible having fun with family and friends.

What do you love about working at Columbia College?

What I love about working at Columbia College is the diverse and welcoming people you meet around every corner. From the moment I arrived, I felt comfortable bringing my culture, values, beliefs, and gifts to campus life; and, I am treated with respect for who I am no matter how alike or different I may be.
